Performance

After running Quake in OS/2 successfully, you may want to compare the performance of the game in your machine with mine. I'm certain that it will run better under OS/2 Warp 4.

I have a Pentium 133MHz CPU, Tyan Tomcat I motherboard with 512KB cache, 16MB EDO RAM at 60ns, Quantum Fireball 1.2GB hard disk, Matrox Millenium video board with 2MB WRAM, SB16, NEC 4X CD-ROM drive, 15" monitor, sound sampling rate of 11KHz, and OS/2 Warp 3 Red. To be fair and consistent, I used Quake 1.06 (and no other unnecessary programs in the background) and executed "TIMEDEMO DEMO1" from the console. The framerates are listed below:

Resolution 320 x 200 320 x 240 640 x 400 640 x 480 800 x 600 1024 x 768
FPS (OS/2) 29.5 25.1 12.7 11.2 7.2 5.4
FPS (DOS) 31.1 26.8 13.3 11.4 7.5 5.6
