Tips
- Get the universal draft shafts hop-up. The slop at the steering end can be quite serious and the stock dogbones will spin out during hard cornering. The universals will reduce rotational slack and wear.
- If the front or rear of the car swerves when it accelerates, one of the differential gears is probably too tight. Check the front diff first. Open up the gear box, remove the diff, loosen it and re-tighten. Try tightening as much as you can, then loosen by half a turn each time you test whether it is loose enough.
- In head-on collisions, the part that is most likely to be damaged is the screw holes of the front gear box. This is evident when you find that the screws at the bottom plate cannot be tightened anymore. If you tend to crash your car a lot, carry a spare gear box parts set.
- The spur gear tends to strip quite often. I'm not sure exactly what the cause is, but I suspect it probably has something to do with overheating of the pinion gear or improper meshing of the gears. I'm thinking of replacing the stock spur gear with a machined metal one. Any suggestions where I can get one?
